The hotel has a beautiful entrance, the Lobby is beautiful and the common area as well. They have this 'tree of wishes', which is very nice idea. Actually, they have lots of fun and great ideas: they have a 'free call home phone' at lobby to make sure you tell your family that you have arrived; they hide a glass bottle every morning and who finds it receive a surprise; one night we saw someone on a corner with a popcorn machine…. They are creative!
Staff is friendly and kind, but not everybody speaks English. Including, our hostess on our arrival, spoke little English and little french. She did great, but both of us had to make a little effort to understand each other….
The lady who attends the concierge speaks English and she did great too! She booked us a very nice cannoying, understanding exactly what we wanted to do with the kids. We had fun!
But, the room area – at least the one we stayed – is very old (Even the door was a little hard to open and close). We´ve booked 2 rooms because we have two children (and there weren´t family room) and the rooms had no communication. The rooms were small with very small bathrooms as well. It has little WiFi signal.
The breakfast is a good buffet. With a little bit of everything and great fresh juices squeezed at the moment.
We´ve spent 3 nights there. The first one, we had dinner out. We were coming from Mauritius and were hungry and the buffet restaurant was not open yet. The other restaurant was fully booked.
The second night, we tried the buffet (the other option at the hotel was fully booked again, but, anyway, I didn't think it was an option for the kids). But we didn't seat. The buffet has variety, but I do not think it's ready for those traveling with children. I asked for some plain pasta or some plain steak or chicken, but they didn't have. And didn't offered to try to arrange something. They told me that the only options were what were being served. But for example, the pasta had some kind of seafood sauce (I don't remember exactly what it was) and the meat and / or chicken also with strong sauces (I think it was something with curry) that my children are not used to. So, we came back to our room and ordered room service! That way we could ask something for the kids. Not kids menu, but by phone they accepted to change a little thing here and other there and send us a steak with fries! Well, that was disappointing… we had spent all day out at cannoying, we were starving and there´s nothing or almost nothing open at the Island after 3pm to eat… We arrived at the hotel by 6:15pm, waited to open the restaurant (I think at 7pm), didn't like the options for the kids, and then had to wait about more 40 min to have dinner at the small room… I don't know… but for a 5 star hotel, I think at the restaurant, they could have offered a simple pasta with butter sauce (5 min to do it?) for my kids and me and my husband would have the buffet watching the sea and the moon…
The third night we asked directly for a restaurant near the hotel and the front desk gave us the name of a very good and walking distance one (Le Manta).
We´ve enjoyed our stay at the Island, but, could be better for a 5 star hotel…
